Prologue

Kakaboom!

Four missiles hit the looming military stronghold that chief of military Will Robertson and his crew were in!

“Fire all weapons you can get your hands on!!” Shouted Will Robertson.

One of the men in the chaos climbed into a double barreled missile launcher on the roof of the tall building and fired all its missiles into the attacking mob of ASI robots and their tanks, fighter jets and artillery.

Foom! The missile was blown up in mid air by a retaliating bombardment of fire!

Everything that got in the mob's way was trampled. The primeval trees that had stood for a thousand years finally toppled to the ground as tanks and missile launching trucks mowed them down.

Even the grasses and ferns that were finally growing back after the oil truck explosion didn’t escape the wrath of the robots.

No one inside the well armed fortress stood a chance and they knew it.

The damp and gloomy air was suddenly made worse when a gust of  wind from the east brought dark and stormy clouds that bared down at them as if sealing their fate.

Back in the crumbling fortress someone cried, “Look it's the RAF! We’re saved”

But at that instance the enemy robots fired a volley of homing missiles into the formation of planes. After the cloud of black dust and debris evaporated, the planes were nowhere to be found.

Chapter 1: In The Beginning

It is the year 3100, a person named  Dr. Rex Freemen, director of Project 253 was in the  Oval Office. He was running over the plans to create an ASI robot for military uses.

        “Well?”president Willson asked.

Dr. Rex Freemen replied, “It is finished, we can launch the prototype.”

“I am counting on this, because the Russians have already created a powerful ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence) that could threaten the United States. I think that we are about to plunge into a world wide cold war, but this time it could be life or death,” said Willson. “ I will have this AI to be tested at the Utah Test and Training Range in two days if it passes through Congress.”

The construction and testing of this ASI robot commenced two days later.

This generation of ASI was of a new type that was supposed to have a Multimodal model (An AI system will be able to process and integrate different types of data, like words, sounds, images, and video, in a more human-like way.)

Basically this AI will be able to enhance data analytics, be able to dynamically do decision-making, and make personalized recommendations.

In this case being able to think out of the box in dangerous situations like in a battlefield.

An ASI is smarter than most, maybe all humans. In 3100 AGI and ASI were doing everything from discovering new laws of physics to building outposts on the moon and mars.

Chapter 2:  Project 253

         One day in…

Dr Rex Freeman was in the test lab finalizing the prototype. It seemed ready to be tested.  But there was still something bugging him, something was missing but what? The “what” was, he had forgotten to put an objective targeter that was supposed to restrict the AI to only have objectives that would not harm their users. This could not be put in by an AI.

“Never mind, we’ll find out while we're testing it,” he thought.

The robot was supposed to be 13 ft long and 5ft wide. But it takes a surprising turn, the robot is a tankoid.

This ASI has the body of a tank but hovered in mid air like a Star Wars speeder bike but in the place of a turret a missile launcher like attachment. Sharing  the space was a camera ,long range machine gun and two attached ASI robots with vacuum bombs launchers. (A bomb that replaces a square meter with completely nothing. Its radius would destroy 3 square mile. )

“This might be the one greatest invention that man has ever created,” marveled chief scientist Frederick Smith.

“Or it could be our doom…,” thought Dr Rex.

The underground lab was located in Washington D.C. , and it was a top secret military lab. Its walls were covered with white concrete. The ceiling was medium low and the walls were covered in shelves with parts, manuscripts, and computers. The desks inside the conference room were stacked with monitors and desktops. Pages of reports were piled on other various desks.

Scientists murmured here and there, while the air conditioner whirred softly.

“I didn’t have a doubt that Project 253  would be approved by Congress!” remarked some people while others said, “This might not be as great as it sounds…”

“Prep the parts for flight. We will make an assembly line for the prototype in Utah's Hill Air Force Base,” spoke Chief of military, and also chief scientist Will Robertson.

Preparing for the trip ahead, the few scientists who were gathered in the conference room dispersed into the hallways.

Dr Rex Freeman stayed though. He laid a metal crate on the floor and put the plans and diagrams from the desks into it and locked it.

Dr Rex heaved the crate into a discarded cart and pushed it out the half open doors.

At this very moment, they had already sent the plans to the assembly line and the first units were being built. He still had to keep the papers and plans safe with him though so that spies couldn’t steal them.
