“You will be just fine,” said her mom.” It is not going to be so bad. You just would have as much time as you normally would. You are my daughter, Mahal Sahal.” Mahal was Sonia’s real name but when she was in the Realm of the Mortals, or as the people there called themselves the Isle(s) of the Greats, she went by Sonia.

Sonia, however, did not think it would be “fine” as her mother said. She would have to go to all the other realms. Most of these realms were where creatures went where they died although some of them were different worlds with different beings. Sonia's home was “Realm Zero”. It was the first realm that came to be. No one knows what you could find in these realms as they keep changing. Once Sonia got lost in one of the realms and almost got eaten by a plant! It wasn’t just any plant. It was an animal plant so it was not an animal or a plant.

Sonia decided she was going to go back to the Isle(s) of the Greats so she could at least have some fun before she has to leave.

“I am going back to check if I got the role. I won’t be back for a while.” Sonia made her way to the door. “If I get in I’ll tell you because then I won’t have to join the workforce for a while.” She was just excited at the thought. Alisa just looked at her daughter, knowing that she got in but wanted to keep it to herself. She knew soon things will change and her daughter will have a very different life than before and wanted Sonia to find a balance in her life.

Sonia opened the door and was back in the field she was in before. It was now very bright outside, seeming to be about noon the next day. She went back to the city. It was very busy at this time of day. She was heading to a tiny cafe called “The Tiny Critters”. It was her favorite cafe in town and that is where she would meet up with her friend Amira. She went inside and found Amira at a cloud-shaped table with a cup of coffee in her hands. The cafe had a fantasy vibe from the sky theme that was inside. Sonia went right up to her and sat right next to her. Amira did not look happy.

Amira turned to Sonia. “Where have you been? I have been waiting for an hour and you weren’t picking up your phone. I was starting to think you were ignoring me!” Amira did not know that Sonia was a god. Actually half of the people in the Isle(s) of the Greats were beings who were not humans and the humans did not know. Amira did not need to know about Sonia and Sonia wanted to keep it that way. Now, the problem at hand is finding an excuse. Sonia was always bad at making excuses or hiding things.

“I was just wandering the forest.”

“Without your phone? Even after I told you SEVEN times?” Amira exclaimed. She knew that Sonia was careless and that Sonia would disappear for weeks on end if she could. That is why Amira constantly was checking in on her. Amira was like Sonia’s mother though they were about the same age (kind of). “I told you a week ago that I have a job out of the city and wanted you to keep your phone with you at all times. Then I was messaging you at least three times a day. Did you lose it?”

“I turned the notifications off.” Just then Sonia’s phone chimed.

“Oh really.” Amira said. She was starting to get mad. Sonia realized she needed to fix things fast. Sonia read the message and she was so relieved. She just got her way out.

Sonia tried to sound casual.“ Actually, I was rehearsing for a play. The one I got the lead for.”

“Will you get a good amount of money?”

“Yes.”

“Then I don’t care.” Amira sounded tired from this one-minute interrogation. Then, for the next hour, they were talking about the things that happened in their lives. Amira met some old friends and made some new ones at her job. Sonia tried to make a drawing of a bird that convinced her for the ninth time that she is not good at art.

Then, just as they were about to leave the cafe, something strange happened. Sonia did not know anything was happening but Amira noticed. There was a gold thing that was slowly appearing above Sonia’s head. Amira was not sure what was happening. She told Sonia that there was something on her head. Sonia then asked her to take a picture with her phone. After Amira showed Sonia the picture, Sonia started to freak out.To humans the thing above Sonia’s head looked like a gold shimmer but to gods it looked like a symbol. She told Amira that she was getting “a god given blessing” from the goddess of the arts to help her with her play. Then Sonia turned and walked out of the cafe. She did not look back to see Amira’s reaction, trying to get to the field as fast as possible. She reached the door and basically ran inside. She found her mom and showed her the photo. The symbol above her head had disappeared but was still there in the photo.

“What is this?” asked Sonia. Her mom just looked at her and said that she was chosen. She was now “The Goddess of Everything and Anything.” The name was so weird Sonia just thought it was a prank. Her mom, however, was texting someone something. Then a horde of people just took Sonia away without any explanation.
