Reyna is a 14-year-old half-demon and can summon a variety of monsters.

Also, 14-year-old Alfie is an Angel cast down from the heavens for a crime he didn’t do.

Neo is an age-12 shapeshifter who has rare shapeshifting powers.

Together, they make quite a great team.

But will they survive the many adventures ahead?

Chapter 3

The Job

Present day, Dystopian California San Francisco.

“Ugh! I’m so hungry. It’s been like, eight days since we left base. Are you sure this ‘Fawz’ or something guy can be trusted?” Neo groaned.

A few days earlier, Alfie found this odd heir of an actor with tan skin and neon green hair on software called goon-gle. This man, Fawz Sedran, sought bodyguards to protect him after losing his original ones after the dystopian bomb disaster. Alfie thought they would earn money if they worked as his new bodyguards. Reyna could use her demon powers to summon zombies, Alfie could use his magical lyre, and Neo could use his shapeshifting and tech gadgets all to protect their new master, Fawz. They were at the rocky driveway near the Legion of Honor when they saw something unbelievable.

“I’m pretty sure if we turn to the left, his manor should be right-” Alfie said, confidently with a bit of a shock at the end. Alfie and Reyna grimaced when they saw his mansion. It looked like it was made out of a vintage fast food restaurant (that somehow is intact) and a carwash; which was exactly what it was made of. It also had some finishing touches from a colorful ice cream truck. Neo on the other hand was amazed by the build.

“Extraordinary! This is the most fantastical thing on Earth! I must meet the architect!” Neo exclaimed flabbergasted. He was amazed when he saw the remarkable structure. To Neo, it was beyond imagination, but to Alfie and Reyna, it was, well, you could say otherworldly?

“Ah, you three must be here for the bodyguard tryouts, yes?” A man in his eighties said wearily walking up to them.

“Yeah, we’re here for the bodyguard positions. So, where do we meet Fawz?” Reyna asked confidently yet cautiously, slowly walking up and staring at him.

“First off, you will call him Master Fawz, and second, I shall guide you inside, where he will give you details,” the old man answered in a weary voice. “Oh, and you can also call me Esther. You may come to me for assistance or questions," he added.

Esther, it’s similar to my grandfather's name, Esgar, Reyna thought.

As the three followed Esther inside the mansion, Neo was still amazed by the exterior, while Alfie had his witty-looking glasses on, and Reyna, who had a serious face as solid as a rock, was still thinking. As they made their way inside, it was nothing like the exterior. It was fancy, with marble stairs, and gold railings. A diamond chandelier hanging on the roof, with modern art, that clearly stood out. When they were about to knock on the door of Master Fawz’s workspace, they heard a voice call out behind them.

“Ah, hello! Are these my new bodyguards?” A man with shiny light green hair, and smooth tan skin, just as Alfie described Fawz. Is this guy Fawz? This guy? He seems too, well, set back, Reyna was thinking.

“My name is Fawz, your new Master. Let’s just skip the tasks since you are the only ones to come here and be worthy to travel here!” Fawz added hesitantly. As he began to give them a tour of the manor, Reyna noticed a white glove only on his left hand, which she saw as unusual. She didn't want to ask because she thought it might offend him.

The sky outside started to turn dark, which meant it was supper. Master Fawz had invited them to dinner. They began to eat some smokey grilled zucchini toast with mushroom pate for dinner.

Reyna caught a glimpse of Fawz taking off his glove; revealing a scar.

It can’t be. But if it is, how? Reyna wondered. Was Fawz the same guy she and Travis stole from before the dystopian explosion? Her face started to sweat, her joints began to stiffen, and her head felt like a ginormous vacuum was sucking it up. Her vision began to turn blurry, and her mouth turned dry. As she was feeling all this, she passed out.
