Story-Camp-Summer

Hello, Everyone!

Summer camp registration is now open.

We've already received many inquiries!

We’re glad to meet in-person again, and of course, we will practice social distancing and will wear masks if we need to be near our students to offer assistance.

To reserve your child’s seat, please contact Royd at [email protected].

We can send our payment information as soon as possible.

We hope to work with your young writer in the summer!

Camp #2

July 11 - 15

10am-11:30am PST

In-person Location TBD -

We're currently looking for a family who can host in their backyard.

Imagine meeting raccoon brothers who must save their beloved swamp from 17 marauding wild boars. They can't stop the boars on their own, so they call on a Bigfoot-like giant known as Sugar Man to help them. Will they wake up the Sugar Man in time to prevent the destruction?

This Summer Camp invites writers to create unique heroes that are determined to reach their goals, solve a mystery, or embark on a dangerous mission.

Through our special version of the Hero’s Journey, we'll guide students to create their own compelling stories and show examples from memorable novels such as Kathi Appelt's tall tale, The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp.

We’ll provide a highly interactive, playful environment to inspire students to create their own tales of fantasy, time travel, science fiction, or anything in between. Stories in all genres are welcome.

Our course will walk through all steps of the writing process:

  • generating first ideas
  • writing new scenes
  • organizing
  • integrating details
  • revising for clarity and logic, and
  • editing towards a final draft.

Each student will be invited to present a reading on the last day of class.
